Սա ի՞նչ է։

Reading tips

The full stop ։ ends a sentence. The comma , separates items or parts of a sentence.

The question mark ՞ sits above the stressed vowel of the questioned word. In Սա ի՞նչ է։ the mark is attached to ի, rather than placed after the sentence.

The emphasis mark ՛ and exclamation mark ՜ also appear above a vowel. Recognise these marks before reading a longer sentence.

With the vowel team ու, the question mark goes after ո: դո՞ւ. Read Իսկ դո՞ւ։ as “And you?” without moving the mark to the sentence end.

The separator ՝ introduces or separates part of a message. The quotation marks « » surround quoted words. Recognise them here; you do not need to learn every punctuation rule yet.
