Invitations, refusals and obligations

Invite with a short message: शनिवार सात बजे मेरे घर आइए. आओ suits a friend; आइए suits a polite invitation. Accept with ज़रूर आऊँगा / आऊँगी.

माफ़ कीजिए, नहीं आ सकूँगा / सकूँगी is a useful future inability formula. A simpler refusal is शनिवार को नहीं आ सकता / सकती. Suggest फिर कभी? or रविवार को?.

An obligation can use मुझे...ना है: मुझे काग़ज़ खरीदना है. A feminine unmarked object changes the infinitive: खिड़कियाँ धोनी हैं. Learn मुझे जाना है first, then notice noun agreement in practical messages.

• शनिवार मेरे घर आइए।Come to my house on Saturday. (polite)

• मुझे काग़ज़ खरीदना है।I need to buy paper.

• खिड़कियाँ धोनी हैं।The windows need to be washed.
