It's Saturday. It's raining outside, and it's very cold.
Intan duduk di dekat jendela. Umurnya sepuluh tahun. Hari ini dia tidak senang.
Intan is sitting at the window. She's ten. Today she's not happy.

Grandma, why is it raining again? Today Putri and I want to ride our bikes to the park!

The landlady's phone rings. It is Maya, Intan's mother, calling from work.

Hi, Intan. I'm sorry, I'm working again today. Until this evening.
- Intan
Lagi? Ibu selalu bekerja! Sabtu juga!
Again? Mum, you're always working! Even on Saturday!

Ibu tahu. Tapi Ibu harus membantu orang. Kamu dan Nenek membuat panekuk?
I know. But I have to help people. Are you and Grandma making pancakes?
- Intan
Ya. Bu, datang nanti malam! Ada banyak panekuk.
Yes. Mum, come this evening! There are lots of pancakes.

Tapi saya tidak pernah kedinginan di pantai!
But I'm never cold by the sea!

Tidak pernah? Tahun lalu kamu biru seperti laut!
Never? Last year you were as blue as the sea!

Tidak! Ya... Sedikit saja.
I wasn't! Well... only a little.
Intan turns the page and draws a small brown dog with big ears.

Nek, lihat: anak anjing! Seperti punya Putri. Saya mau anak anjing!
Grandma, look: a puppy! Like Putri's. I really want a puppy!
- Ibu Sari
Anak anjing? Miko? Miko tidak suka anjing.
A puppy? And Miko? Miko doesn't like dogs.
- Intan
Miko tinggal di sini. Anak anjing boleh di apartemen kami!
Miko lives here. And the puppy can live in our flat!
- Ibu Sari
Siapa yang menjaga? Orang tua kamu bekerja. Kamu sekolah.
And who looks after it? Your parents work, and you're at school.

Saya bisa menjaga hewan! Saya menjaga Miko setiap hari!
I know how to look after animals! I look after Miko every day!

Tidak, Intan. Miko yang menjaga kamu.

On the windowsill the grey tomcat opens one eye, looks at the drawing of the dog, and turns his back on it. - Intan
Kata Ibu, "Anjing perlu waktu. Ibu tidak punya waktu."
Mum says: 'A dog needs time, and I don't have time.'

Benar. Ibu kamu banyak bekerja. Karena itu dia lelah.
That's true. Your mum works a lot, that's why she's tired.

Karena itu saya ingin menjadi pelukis. Pelukis bekerja di rumah. Bisa menjaga anak anjing!
That's why I want to be a painter. A painter works at home and can look after a puppy!
- Ibu Sari
Pelukis? Bukan guru seperti Nenek?
A painter? Not a teacher, like your grandma?
- Intan
Bukan! Guru selalu bilang "nanti".
No! Teachers always say 'later'.
- Ibu Sari
Nenek tidak pernah bilang "nanti". Nenek bilang "sekarang"!
I never say 'later'. I say: 'Now!'
Afternoon. The rain stops, and the sun comes out over the wet roofs.

Nek, matahari! Sekarang boleh naik sepeda?
Grandma, the sun! Can I ride my bike now?
Ibu SariBoleh. Tapi pakai topi dan syal. Di luar masih dingin.
You can. But with a hat and a scarf, because it's still cold outside.

Evening. Maya comes into the kitchen, tired, with a wet umbrella.

Bu! Pagi hujan, lalu cerah. Sekarang anak anjing Putri teman saya!
Mum! In the morning there was rain, then sun. Putri's puppy is my friend now!

Kamu mau anak anjing lagi, ya?

Ya. Tapi waktu liburan, di pantai! Di sana lebih baik daripada di kota.
