LauraBuongiorno, dottoressa! Oggi quaranta pazienti.
Good morning, doctor! Forty patients today.
ElenaQuaranta? Bene, lavoriamo fino alle sette. Il primo paziente, per favore!
Forty? Well, we work until seven. First patient, please!

An old man with a walking stick comes in very slowly and sits down with a happy sigh. - Il paziente anziano
Buongiorno, dottoressa! Sono io, di nuovo.
Good day, doctor! It's me again.
ElenaOh, signor Antanas! Lei è qui due volte alla settimana. Come si sente?
Oh, Mr Antanas! You're here twice a week. How do you feel?
- Il paziente anziano
Male. Mi fanno male la schiena, la gamba e la testa.
Bad. My back hurts. And my leg. And my head.
ElenaAnche la testa? Va bene. Respiri profondamente... Un'altra volta.
Your head too? All right. Breathe in deeply... Once more.
- Il paziente anziano
Dottoressa, i miei figli sono lontani. A casa mi annoio molto.
Doctor, my children are far away. At home I'm very bored.
ElenaLei non è malato. Si annoia e basta.
You aren't ill. You're just bored.
ElenaEcco la mia ricetta: ogni mattina il bar di Chiara. Caffè, torta e persone.
Here's my prescription: every morning, Chiara's café. Coffee, cake and people.
- Il paziente anziano
La torta come medicina? Mi piace molto questa ricetta!
Cake as medicine? I like this prescription very much!

He goes off, smiling. The receptionist shakes her head.
ElenaLaura, lui non ha bisogno di medicine. Ha bisogno di persone.
Laura, he doesn't need medicine. He needs people.
More patients: a cough, a cut finger, a baby who will not stop crying. At eleven, a student comes in with a heavy rucksack.
- Il giovane paziente
Buongiorno. Ho mal di testa. Ogni giorno.
Good day. I have a headache. Every day.
ElenaQuante ore dormi?
How many hours do you sleep?
- Il giovane paziente
Quattro. Venerdì ho un esame, allora studio di notte.
Four. I have an exam on Friday, so I study at night.
ElenaQuattro? Troppo poco. Una testa stanca non impara niente.

ElenaDormi otto ore per notte e bevi molta acqua.
Sleep eight hours a night and drink a lot of water.
One o'clock. The waiting room is still full. The receptionist puts her head round the door.

All right. On Saturday I'm not working. We're all coming to the festival: you, me, Dad and your brother.

MariaE io? Io sono sempre al festival. Vedo tutto e so tutto.
And me? I'm always at the festival. I see everything and I know everything.
