Adesso è sul tavolo. Non è più girata verso il muro.

It's on the table now. Not facing the wall.

Nonna, chi è quella donna giovane?

Grandma, who's that young woman?

Sono io! Qui ero giovane. Avevo ventidue anni.

That's me! I was young here. I was twenty-two.

Tu? Eri molto bella!

You? You were very beautiful!

Sì. E sono ancora bella!

I was. And I still am!

Mio marito. Sofia, quello è tuo nonno.

My husband. Sofia, that's your grandfather.

Quando io sono nata, il nonno non era più con noi.

When I was born, Grandpa wasn't with us any more.

Sì. Era un uomo molto buono e gentile. Come te, Sofia.

Yes. He was a very good, friendly man. Like you, Sofia.

Vicino al fiume Bosco. Era agosto. Eravamo giovani e felici.

By the river Bosco. It was August. We were young and happy.

E questo è il numero 7. Era molto vecchio e vuoto.

And this is number 7. It was very old and empty.

Era la casa dei genitori di mio marito.

It was my husband's parents' house.

I suoi genitori erano anziani, e la casa era troppo grande per loro.

His parents were old, and the house was too big for them.

Non troppo grande per noi. Adesso è mia. Da cinquant’anni.

Not too big for us. Now it's mine. For fifty years now.

Cinquant’anni? Come mio zio!

Fifty years? Like my mum's brother!

Questa è la mia scuola. Ero insegnante. Per quarant’anni!

This is my school. I was a teacher. For forty years!

Non miei, i bambini della scuola. Ma erano tutti miei. Metà città!

Not mine, the school's children. But they were all mine. Half the town!

E la mia mamma?

And my mum?

Sì. Ero la sua insegnante. Era molto brava... e molto rumorosa.

Yes. I was her teacher. She was very good... and very loud.

E questa è Elena. Qui ha sette anni.

And this is Elena. She's seven here.

Mamma! È così piccola! Ha i capelli lunghi e gli occhi blu.

Mum! She's so small! She has long hair and blue eyes.

Occhi blu, come me. È nata qui, al numero 7.

Blue eyes, like me. She was born here, at number 7.

E io sono nata il ventotto marzo!

And I was born on the twenty-eighth of March!

E questo è mio figlio. Qui ha cinque anni.

And this is my son. He's five here.

Sì. Aveva sempre fame. Come te!

Yes. He was always hungry. Like you!

Sofia, questa è per te. Tuo nonno e io, vicino al fiume Bosco.

Sofia, this is for you. Your grandpa and me, by the river.

Per me? Grazie, nonna!

For me? Thank you, Grandma!

E questa è per Lei. Il numero 7, quando era vuoto.

And this is for you. Number 7, when it was empty.

E Lei? Dov’era quando aveva dieci anni?

And you? Where were you when you were ten?

Nonna, e dov’è la foto di Milo?

Grandma, and where's Milo's photo?

La foto di Milo? Non è il mio gatto!

Milo's? He's not my cat!

Ma è sempre qui. È anche lui famiglia!

But he's always here. He's family too!

Oh, va bene. Sofia, puoi disegnare Milo?

Oh, all right. Sofia, could you draw Milo?

Sì! Nel mio album da disegno nuovo!

I can! In my new sketchbook!
