Read right-to-left with mostly non-joining shapes.
About this unit
Your first letters already make real words. Persian runs from right to left, and some letters never join the letter after them.

One letter, several shapes
A letter's shape depends on its neighbours. At the start it joins only the next letter, in the middle both neighbours, at the end only the letter before it.
A dash means the letter never joins the next letter: at the start of a word it looks as when alone, in the middle as at the end.

A gap after ا, د or ر is part of the word, not a space between words.

Words run right to left. ا د ر do not join to the next letter on their left; ب can join. The short-vowel mark in بَد and دَر is a temporary reading aid. Long ā is written with ا or initial آ.
