Unit 26 · Names and places · Meet

Names and places

Read place names with normal initial capitals.

About this unit

Names and places start with a capital letter. From here on, words appear in ordinary print, without stress marks.

  • The recording tells you where the stress falls in a new name.
  • A Russian full name has a first name, then a name from the father: Нина Петровна.
  • Pet names are names too: Барсик is a tomcat.
