Unit 40 · Your independent reading check · Read

Your independent reading check

Read new regular combinations and everyday print without sound or picture cues.

Reading tips

Try the check without sound or pictures first. Each new one-syllable spelling combines familiar signs and follows a regular tone pattern. Meanings are supplied here because this checks decoding, not untaught vocabulary. ตาม means follow; นอน means sleep; งาน means work.

You can still open the alphabet. Your result records whether you used support. This is a short check, not a certificate of Thai fluency. Keep listening to natural speech and looking up exceptions.

Read first. The check has no pictures or spoken answer cues. You can open the alphabet if you need it; your result will note the support.
